OPI Katy Perry

Hey everyone! Hope you are having a great weekend! Today I have some swatches of the recent OPI Katy Perry collection. I know you have probably seen them a million times before so I'm doing a condensed post with all the colours in one photo!

From left to right: Teenage Dream, Last Friday Night, The One That Got Away, Not Like The Movies

Teenage Dream and Last Friday Night are a little on the sheer side as you can see. I used three coats for these photos and you could still see VNL. The One That Got Away and Not Like The Movies were more opaque and only needed two coats but I did three for consistency.

I then added a coat of Black Shatter to all of them. I ended up liking Teenage Dream and Black Shatter the best so I wore that as my mani. As to be expected with glitter, it was a complete PITA to take off (I ended up using the foil technique even though I hate soaking my nails for that long) but I was surprised that the two polishes actually wore really well. I think I got about 4 days without any chipping or flaking!

Which ones do you like best? And don't forget that you can win a mini set of the Katy Perry collection in my 500 Follower Giveaway!

Follow me on Facebook & bloglovin'

Hey everyone!

I just set up a Facebook page here and found out that you can also follow me on bloglovin' here!

The FB page is still a work in progress but I'm hoping to get it up and running this week :)

Hey everyone! The other day my little "spare time" blog, GildedNails clicked over the 500 follower mark! I am completely blown away by all the support I have received from my followers and the blogging community! When I started this blog I never thought I would reach 500 followers so quickly! But here I am just six months later!

So to say thank you to all of you, I have prepared an absolutely enormous giveaway! I haven't even tried to value this giveaway, but I'm guessing its worth a few hundred dollars! There are 30 bottles of polish, nail care goodies and one mega makeup surprise as well!

Let's take a look at everything!

The complete Orly Viva Collection and a mini bottle of Top2Bottom donated by the distributors of Orly in Australia. Thank you Samantha!

Two brand new full size bottles of Nicole By OPI polish, a Nicole By OPI Topcoat and BaseCoat donated by OPI. Thank you Lisa!

Four brand new bottles of China Glaze from the Anchor's Away collection purchased by me.

A brand new mini 4 pack of Color Club Mighty Brights donated by Color Club New Zealand! Thank you Rob!

Three full size brand new bottles of China Glaze polish donated by China Glaze. Thank you Alanna!

Two brand new bottles of Nfu Oh donated by Vivid Nails Australia. Thank you Alex!

Four brand new bottles of Le Beauty polish donated by Le Beauty Australia. Thank you Hoang!

A brand new mini 4 pack of the OPI Katy Perry polishes purchased by me. These haven't arrived yet, but as soon as I get them I'll upload a proper photo for you all!

A Konad image plate, Manicare fashion nail file, brand new tin of Burt's Bees Cuticle Cream and a set of Modlash lashes - all purchased by me.

Finally, a brand new MAC Stereo Rose Mineralize Skinfinish! I was very lucky to get an extra Stereo Rose when it came out last year, so I thought rather than sell it for an inflated price on EvilBay, I'd keep it for this giveaway!

1. You must be a follower!
2. Please fill out the required fields in the form below
3. Answering the additional questions gives you one extra entry for every answer.
4. The giveaway will close on 31 March 2011

OPI Texas - Part 1

Hey everyone! Hope you are all having a great weekend! Mine was filled with celebrations following my admission as a lawyer on Friday! I can now officially call myself and work as a LAWYER! Yay!

I also have another reason to celebrate this weekend - I reached 500 followers on my blog!!! This is extremely exciting because I can now post my huge giveaway! Hopefully I will have this up by tomorrow.

In the mean time, today I have swatches of six of the OPI Texas polishes.

Don't Mess With OPI - Forest green cream. This applied like a dream and only needed two coats. I really like this colour, and in all honesty, greens like this usually don't do it for me. But I'm loving this one!

Check out the other five colours after the jump!

OPI Not Like The Movies & Black Shatter

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I spent my weekend doing wedding stuff. I think I have finally found my bridesmaid dresses and shoes, and the gifts for my guests, so I'm really excited!

Today, a package finally arrived with some of the OPI Texas and Katy Perry collection colours I ordered, but much to my dismay, half the order was missing!!! I'm just hoping that the other polishes are just on back order.

The only Katy Perry colour that arrived was Not Like the Movies, so that's what I have on tonight.

Not Like the Movies is a silvery lavender duochrome that flashes green and pink. It also has some sparkle thanks to the silver microglitter.

This blurry pic really shows the sparkle of this polish!

Check out Black Shatter after the jump!

Models Own Jade Stone

Sadly, my Texas and Anchor's Away orders still haven't arrived! I hope they haven't got lost somewhere along the way because I'm going out of my mind waiting for these collections! In the mean time, today I'm wearing Models Own Jade Stone.

Jade Stone is as the name suggests, a jade green creme. This one is really opaque and I got great coverage with just one coat but I went with two in the end. I've only had it on for a day, but it hasn't chipped yet, so that is a good sign!

Oh and I'm only 41 followers away from my massive 500 follower giveaway! I received some more products this week from China Glaze and Le Beauty to add to the prizes. This giveaway is honestly going to be massive, so get following people so I can put it up! I can barely contain my excitement about all the products... I'll have to give you all an updated sneek peak on the weekend I think!

Color Club - Wham! Pow!

I really need to learn to post earlier in the day! I am so exhausted I can't think of anything interesting to say! So apologies in advance for the waffling!

I saw Carli's swatch of Wham! Pow! the other day and developed a crazy lemming for it, only to realise I already had it in my Helmer!

So I put it on today and was blown away by how unbelievably bright this polish is! I'm quite tanned at the moment so I loved the way this polish looked with my skin colour! (Sydney just had its longest heat wave in 150 years of weather recording with temperatures over 103-106F every day for the past week!)

I only had to use two coats to get it nice and even (no white base underneath!) Like most other neons it dried to a semi matte finish so I used a coat of Poshe to make it nice and shiny.

First two photos are indoors with flash, last photo is in natural light, no flash.

OPI The Show Must Go On!

Hey everyone! I can't believe I'm posting twice in one day! I have been so productive today!

The Show Must Go On! is from OPI's recent Burlesque Collection. This is a pink leaning red duochrome that has a yellow/orange flash which you can see really distinctly in the bottom two photos. I used two coats for these shots.

TSMGO! is definitely not a dupe for MAC's Bad Fairy (I gave my bottle away to Jacie at You've Got Nail so I can't do a comparison), but from what I remember of Bad Fairy, I much prefer the way TSMGO! looks on me.

Nars Zulu Giveaway Winner and 500 Follower Sneak Peek!

Hi everyone! Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!

I finally have the winner of my NARS Zulu Giveaway!

Congratulations Halifax from Sparkled Beauty!

I have sent you an email so please get back to me with your address details asap! Thanks to everyone who entered!

And since I'm a bit of a giveaway maniac and I am fast approaching 500 followers, I thought I'd show you a sneak peek of some of the goodies that I will be giving away when I reach that milestone!

Some of these goodies have been donated by the lovely people at OPI, Orly and Vivid Nails (Nfu Oh) and I am still waiting on more goodies from Le Beauty, China Glaze and Color Club! Plus I have added some other bits and pieces that I bought myself. This is set to be my biggest giveaway to date and as soon as I click over to 500 followers, I'll open it up for everyone to enter!

Born Pretty Store Review

Hey everyone! Today I have a review of some products I was sent by Jessica at Born Pretty Store

This is the first time I have ever been sent something to review so I'm a little excited about it!

Here's what I was sent:

I was also sent some 3D steel nail art balls but unfortunately the wheel broke during transit.

I have only had a chance to use a couple of the products but I'm pleased to say that I wasn't disappointed with the ones I did try.

First up was the Kelier Nail crackle polish. I used two coats of China Glaze's Flip Flop Fantasy first, left it to dry for 60 seconds and then applied a thin coat of the crackle polish. At first, nothing happened.....

But after about a minute or two, the crackle started forming and the end product was actually pretty good! I have only tried a couple of other crackle polishes in the past (Krackpolish & an aussie one) and they either haven't cracked properly or as they cracked, the also flaked off! The Kelier Nail crackle polish didn't flake at all!

The other item I used was the stamping plate. I used two coats of Essie Luxedo and then some Konad Special Polish in White.

I only stamped one finger because it was super late at night and I was being extremely lazy, but it seemed to work ok (I am by no means a konading expert, but I was happy with the result anyway! ha!). I tried a few of the other designs on the plate as well and had no issues with stamping any of them.

If I get time on the weekend, I will try and have a go with the dotting tools and the rhinestones....

If you want to order anything from Born Pretty Store, make sure you pop in the discount code GILDEDK31 at the checkout to get a 10% discount. They are also offering a free Hello Kitty Nail Stamping plate like the one above when you enter the coupon code BP 299.

The items featured in this post were provided for review. For further information on GildedNail's Disclosure Policy, please click here.
